Finding Inspiration For Indiana Craft Shows

Ever have that mood when you suddenly feel an overwhelming urge to just make something? That feeling of knowing you have a really great idea in your head and wanting it out into something physical in your hands? It is called the artistic spirit and it's what drives human being to continually push forward and create new things.

I have been searching for my muse for the longest time. These past few months, I've been devoid of any inspiration whatsoever; whenever I tried my hand at my craft, the result was always subpar. It lacked the spirit that, to me, made it stand out.

Life as a working mother has taken its toll on my craftsmanship. I work a decent job to get my family by, but in doing so, has severely cramped my artistic passions. I then began a hunt for my missing muse, so I scheduled a few days off from work to go to a few sites around Indiana. I made a trip to parks, scheduled a hiking expedition, and even persuaded my husband to take me along on one of his fishing trips. I always had a notebook and pencils with me, ready for when the muse struck and got me sketching or drawing at the moment.

Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work. Whatever I tried, I did not seem to get any better at my craft. Yes, I could come up with casual sculptures, but there was always a bit of spark missing from the final product. Finesse was lacking, as well as spirit. Maybe I am doomed to never make another amazing crafted item again.

After that, I simply stopped trying. I tried to convince myself that there were more important matters to deal with. I needed to direct my focus on my day job so I could go on supporting my growing children. And that's when it hit me: When I wasn't looking for my muse, she suddenly popped up out of nowhere. Like a set of missing keys, she showed up just when you have given up looking for her.

In just a few minutes, I took up my old sculpting tool which were scattered around the study and immediately began to work on my new masterpiece. Masterpiece, of course, being an exaggeration, but I believe this current one I'm making will now be to my expectations.
