Are you Grateful? Here are 5 Ways to Start

Recession seems to be the obsession these days. If you want to loose the blues, then loose your old attitude. Mindset plays a huge role in how you approach your circumstances. Start by creating an attitude of gratitude and watch your life change. Here are 5 ways to get started right now:

1. Experiences from the Past - Rekindle those old memories of good times. When was the last time you had a lot of fun? What were you doing? You might go back to times when you were just happy to be alive. Maybe you just recovered from a terrible injury or regained your health. Think of those times when you were with loved ones; times when you felt lucky to be alive.

2. Focus On Haves (not Have-Nots) - I see a lot of people complaining about what they don't have. This doesn't really help. You might think about your health or the great people you have come to know. You might be grateful for a new friend you just made or having a pet to keep you company. You might be grateful that you have an internet connection that gives you access to this article.

3. You Gotta Start Early - Build momentum from the morning on. Start your day by saying, "thank-you" as you wake. And then every time you take a step, continue to say "thank-you," as you walk to the bathroom. This builds great energy for your day.

4. Persistence Goes the Distance - When you start to repeat an affirmation, you want to become a parrot. Repeat the affirmation, "I'm thank-you" over and over again until it begins to become locked in your mind. Soon you'll start to notice other changes as you walk around saying "thank-you" to the things around you. You might open the fridge to grab some breakfast and notice you're saying "thank-you" to the food you're looking at. Every time you see something, you're saying "thank-you." This is such a great exercise.

5. Remain Consistent - You may have tried affirmations before without much luck. Maybe you said, "I'm grateful for my friends," but you didn't feel grateful. It felt like you were lying. At first it may come across as a lie, but with practice and persistence you will begin to shift our perception and gear into gratitude.
