Cancer is a deadly disease. As soon as you know the cancer survival statistic of your cancer, you may be either relieve or frighten. As cancer survival statistics give an idea of the average number of people with cancer survive, it doesn't mean that the cases of cancer is exactly the same.
However cancer survival statistics are just a probability of occurrence. There is nothing written in stone about cancer survival statistics. As you are unique you have every chance of bucking the survival statistics. A cancer survival statistic cannot tell you have X number of years to live. Have faith that you can beat the odds and you possibly can, conversely have faith that you will die and it increases the risk that that will become a certainty.
It is never easy to accept cancer. It can be very fearful and stressful. Soon depression will knock in and before you know it, you are one of the many cancer patients who are going through the same path--a path that proves the probability of statistics to be true.
Fear is normal. But this is the best time to believe that there is something more important than fear... it's your life. You have to believe that you can overcome anything including your fear. You should not allow your fear to eat you whole and drag you to a depression. It is your life you need to defend, and the best way to do it is to know that you can survive.
Things that you see or read about cancer survival statistics, no matter where it come from, is not a declaration that it will exactly happen to you. You are the one in control, and you can make changes if you want. It is your life, and you have to manage it.
