You now live in an age where the quality of how you think is very important. The performance of your mind can make significant difference in your career.

Those whose minds are sharp will outperform those who don't. Furthermore, those who have sharp minds tend to be productive even in their old age.

Those whose have sharp mind are not just more productive now. They are more productive for longer time as well.

That's why it's important to put the effort to keep your mind sharp. The key to having a sharp mind is to exercise your mind.

The more you exercise your mind, the sharper it will be. It's just like your muscles: the more you exercise your muscles the stronger they become.

I want to share with you ways to make your mind sharp. While what I'm about to share are simple, they are really helpful for exercising your mind.

The key here is consistency. Doing small things consistently will give you more than doing big things occasionally.

Here are some ways for exercising your mind:

1. Playing mind games

To sharpen your mind, playing games that require brain power is a good way. Playing is fun. Therefore, you can train your brain for longer time.

Some famous mind games you can play are Sudoku, chess, checker, and jigsaw puzzle. Besides them, there are still a lot of other mind games available.

If you want to give your mind the best exercise, you should play the game with higher and higher level of difficulty. Just playing at the same level won't be helpful for your mind exercise.

It's similar to weight training where you need to lift increasingly heavier weight to build your muscles.

2. Reading classic books

Reading classic books is good for exercising your mind because the material is more challenging to read than popular material.

While we can usually digest popular material with little thinking, many of the classic books require you to think while reading. This gives your mind the necessary exercise to grow.

Even better, many classic books can be downloaded for free on the Internet

3. Reading academic papers

Not many people like to read academic papers, but it's helpful to sharpen your mind. Why? Because reading academic papers is challenging just like classic books.

Reading academic materials helps you exercise your logic and expand your vocabulary. There are many academic papers you can get through Google Scholar.
