Creating a Strategy with Purpose and Values

To achieve anything, we must have a strategy. The first element in Strategy 360 is to "Get the Big Picture." This is really a philosophical issue that prompts us to look at the complete scene and decide what is important to us, what is not, and where we want to go.

Our bottom line results are ultimately the consequence of our mindset. A noble mindset and a clear purpose will send us on an upward trajectory and ultimately lead to high achievement, while an undisciplined mindset and an unclear purpose will ultimately yield to the powers of gravity and result in chaos and failure. Our purpose, good, bad, or indifferent, sends us in the direction we will go.

A clear purpose is what drives one to an upward path and draws others in. A person or organization with a clear agenda, based upon sound core values and principles, will grow and flourish. They know why they are there and what needs to be done. Ridicule is more easily dismissed. They know where they are going. A sense of purpose and a solid philosophy is available to everyone and every organization, regardless of their history or background. A person can come from a rich, poor, or middle-class background, and may be educated or uneducated. In fact, after all my observations, I am convinced that intelligence is not measured by IQ; it is a way of thinking.

A sense of purpose, coupled with clarity and core values, is a powerful mix that ignites passion and results in a deeply satisfying path. This concept has value for business management, crisis management, and even household management. This does not mean that a person with a clear purpose and core values will not stumble along the way. Setbacks are inevitable. But people traveling with strong core values know that problems are just opportunities in disguise and see setbacks as valuable lessons on achieving even more. While sure of their mission, they are always open to learning more and improving on the past.
