If Only We Could Begin Again

We recently began a new cycle in the Mayan Calendar. On December 23, 2008 we reset the clock to One Imix, the first day of a new 260 cycle in the Mayan Calendar. In a sense we do begin again, just like that early expression of life in this world, but this time we are crawling out of our own internal mud. Though intelligent and aware, we still face our own self imposed limitations. That is the privilege and price of spiritual freedom.
The Mayans perceived time as an inward spiral, in a sense speeding up with each cycle. We see this all around us, with our technological changes becoming obsolete before these new creations reach the marketplace. Time speeds up, and the energies of the planet change as well, with a focus on the higher vibrations. What can we do to increase our awareness, and make the best of these changes?
The greatest tool available to you today is the one most overlooked, the ability to slow down. Logically speaking, if you want to be balanced, in the middle, you need a counterbalance to the rapid change we are experiencing. This means focusing as well on our earth connections.
Many speak of consciousness, and finding their spirituality. My belief is that we are spirit, which negates the idea that we become spiritual. We are spiritual, with consciousness and awareness on many levels outside this physical world.
We do live in the physical world, a place often perceived as the opposite of our spirituality. It is difficult to have the one when we are totally engrossed in the other. Somewhere in the middle there must be a space where we can have both. Somewhere in the middle we integrate body mind and spirit and find a joyful balance.
The Mayan calendar is cycle based, and within a 260 day cycle we find many transitions between the upper and lower levels. We have constant reminders of the physical as well as the spiritual so that we do not become so fully engrossed in one direction. In order to make the most of this yin yang pulsating cycle we must let go of a portion of the past. Much like a balloon, it is easier to rise up when we are not overburdened with the weight of the old.
By connecting to the moment and releasing the energies that burden your spiritual perceptions you can more clearly see what is before you, and follow that path. This is the message of the new Mayan cycle, and the forthcoming long count shift in 2012. Let it go, and live in the moment.
